Work Life Balance Goals for 2020

We are already into 2020, and most of us will have implemented our New Year’s Resolutions.  As part of your resolutions, pursuing a healthy work – life balance should be a goal to work to.  Some of us vow to eat better, exercise more, quit smoking etc, which are all great goals.

At IMS, we recognize the importance of having a good work-life balance.  It goes without saying, that our staff are extremely committed and hard-working during their hours at work, but we all share in the fact that we require a satisfying amount of time for outside work activities.

Maintaining a good balance improves overall happiness and well-being, which in turn contributes to a healthy work environment.

Some tips to create a good work-life balance:

  • Prioritize work tasks.
  • Take regular breaks during the working day.
  • Leverage technology to work smarter.
  • Leave work at work.
  • Exercise, eat healthy, meditate.
  • Spend time with family and friends.
  • Get the recommended amount of sleep.
  • Take that holiday!

Work is an important part of everyone’s life, but it is still just one part!

As individuals, we could all do more to recognise the importance of downtime which benefits businesses, employees and society.  What are you waiting for? Start making those changes today.

We have had several Employees who have stood out over the last few months at IMS for their exceptional hard work, and we cannot express just how appreciated they really are.

In September Kinga Tahir was awarded as Employee of The Month.  Kinga has been a long-standing Employee with IMS since 2008.  Her leadership, efficiency and helpful outlook were quickly recognised by her Managers, and she was promoted from Cleaning Operative to Supervisor.  This award reflects Kinga’s efforts not only for the month but the entire time she has been with IMS.

Svetlana Naneva, Area Manager nominated Kinga as September’s Employee of The Month, commenting ‘Kinga is an excellent Supervisor and fully deserves the award. She is an extremely hard worker and her enthusiasm and attention to detail always shine through in her work.  Our Clients are very happy with her and I receive consistent positive feedback from them.  Congratulations Kinga!’

Baljinder Sunder was awarded as Employee of The Month for October.  She earned this recognition for being so conscientious in her work.  Baljinder is a hard worker and has gone the extra mile on numerous occasions by doing extra hours at short notice.

Parveen Begum our nominee for November was chosen due to her continuous hard work.  Parveen can be relied on to get stuck in and no job is ever too small for her, she is always willing to help others and is a fantastic Team Player.

IMS attends The Cleaning & Support Services Association (CSSA) Autumn Open Evening in London

IMS, being a member of the highly reputable Cleaning & Support Services Association (CSSA), welcomes their knowledge, support and their sharing of best practices within the Cleaning Industry.

The Association dates back to 1966, and promotes high level practices to protect the reputation of the Cleaning Industry, by providing support and advice to Cleaning Companies throughout the UK.  They talk to the Government, on behalf of Cleaning Companies and hold various events to share best practice and to socialize within the Industry.  In addition to this, the CSSA is the driving force towards excellence, through the Association’s continual Training and Development within the Cleaning Sector.

Neil Webb, Managing Director at IMS, along with Business Development Manager Craig Jenkins, attended the most recent Autumn Open Evening, held at Taylor Wessing’s Auditorium & Cloud 9 Facilities in the heart of London.  The CSSA Events, bring together London Cleaning Companies and Cleaning Companies from surrounding areas to speak on all aspects related to the Industry.  Neil stated ‘’It was a well-organised gathering of like-minded people within the Industry.  The talk provided on the night was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening, looking forward to some more upcoming events’

CSSA’s Chairman, Doug Cook provided a warm welcome to attendees on the evening, and it was followed with a talk from Keynote Speaker Sean Nesbitt.  Sean’s brilliant presentation covered various important aspects of Business Practise, such as Employment Issues & Pensions.  He spoke about Brexit, and the upcoming Election and how it might affect the Cleaning Industry.   Sean currently holds the position as Commercial Advisor and Litigator at Taylor Wessing LLP, and leads the Employment, Pensions & Mobility Group Internationally along with the UK’s Specialist Advisory Services Practices.

It is important, to keep up to date with what’s happening not just within the Cleaning Industry, but also within the Current Economy.  Attending similar Events, also presents the opportunity to meet with influential people and speak to like-minded Individuals such as ourselves!

We look forward to attending some more Events in 2020.

IMS attend EXPO Event at Green Park Reading

IMS attended the Thames Valley EXPO Event in Ascot earlier in the year and we enjoyed it so much that we attended the recent Event in Green Park Reading.  This EXPO Event is one of the largest Business Events and the longest running within the region.

We met some influential people on the day, and listened to various keynote speakers such as Naomi Riches MBE, British Rower and Jordan Daykin CEO of JD Brands Limited who appeared on Dragons Den. We also attended some interesting workshops, and even got in on some selfie pictures with Alec Jones-Hall Director of THE Great British Expos!

These events are a great opportunity to connect with the local Business Community to meet with like-minded individuals. We look forward to attending some more Events in 2020.

IMS New Headquarters in Ascot

We are excited to announce, that we have recently moved office from Virginia Water to prestigious offices in Ascot.   Our old office served us well, and we have very fond memories of our time there, but the move has come at the right time as we had outgrown our headquarters in Virginia Water.

The new office is situated in Ascot Business Park, close to the train station, and the well-recognised Ascot Racecourse.

As much as we loved being situated in the beautiful countryside in Virginia Water, we are hoping that the new location will help bolster our visibility as a Company.

We are still working on getting settled in, but we look at the new location as the start of another chapter in the history of IMS.  Thank you to everyone for your continued support throughout the years, and with the move!

Our new address is:

Insite Managed Services, E9 Ascot Business Park, Lyndhurst Road, Ascot, Berkshire. SL5 9FE.

Our previous emails and telephone number remain the same.  Please feel free to pop in and say hello!

Introducing our new eLearning Training

No matter how big a company is, the importance of training staff both new and experienced, really cannot be underestimated and has lots of obvious benefits.  When a robust training plan is in place, employees feel valued as you are investing in them, increasing their ability and performance and it goes without saying, that good employees are at the core of any successful Business, not just cleaning.

At Insite Managed Services, we have recently partnered with one of our major suppliers and introduced a flexible and convenient on-board ‘eLearning tool’, which keeps our Cleaning Operatives proficient on all aspects related to cleaning.

A weekly training ‘mytraining’ video is emailed to our Cleaning Operatives, and it can be completed at their own pace with no disruption to cleaning schedules.  Designed to be used by all, it is easily accessible on mobiles with no pens or paper required.  The video lasts less than three minutes, followed with three short questions at the end, covering various basics of cleaning including:

  • COSHH Training
  • Colour Coding
  • Cross Contamination
  • Health & Safety
  • Care of Equipment
  • Kitchen and Washroom Training
  • Best Practice
  • Customer Service Training

IMS embraces a multicultural and diverse workforce, and although the video is in English it can be subtitled in several other languages if required.

Our HR Training, Health & Safety Coordinator Louise Carter monitors a log by pulling a report identifying which employees have started or finished their training.   Tracking the training in this way also helps us to identify where improvements or additional training from Area Managers may be necessary.  Employees are emailed a certificate for modules when they have been completed.

Louise has already been receiving some great feedback from the team, with some of our longstanding Cleaning Operatives mentioning that “the videos are very informative, easy to follow, and enjoyable to watch!”

Neil Webb, Managing Director at IMS stated, “Our hard-working staff are highly valued at IMS, and we have dramatically upped our game by introducing this fantastic eLearning Tool.  I am committed to providing the best possible resources, ensuring that we continue to deliver a ‘high level’ standard of cleaning to all our clients.”

If you would like to be part of our team, please contact the office today on 01344 845000.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Deep Cleaning at Schools & Cost-effective Holiday Ideas

It has been that time of year again with children on school holidays and resulting in an extremely busy time for us at IMS.  We have spent most of the summer break performing deep cleans at our schools.  Without the occupancy of students for several weeks, the Summer holidays are an ideal time for focusing on the bigger tasks such as the floors, washrooms and canteen areas.

Beginning the Autumn term with a sparkling maintained school boosts a school’s appearance and it sends the right message, focusing on the academic year ahead.

If you would like to enquire about our deep cleaning service, please contact us in the office on 01344 845000.

Steering away from deep cleaning, school holidays throughout the year can also be an expensive time for parents’, and it can be a daunting task to keep children amused and entertained.

See some tips from us at IMS that won’t break the bank and help to create a fun holiday for all.

  1. Go to the park or seaside. You are never too far from the beautiful countryside, open spaces and the sea. Children love to play out-doors and fresh air doesn’t cost anything!
  2. Treasure Hunts. Creating a treasure hunt is a great way to get all the family involved, from drawing your own map, to creating clues and prizes can take up hours of endless fun!
  3. Visit Museums. Lots of museums and galleries are free, and they make great efforts to put on interesting exhibitions for children during school holidays.
  4. Movie Days. Our British weather does not guarantee sunshine every day, for those rainy days, choose a couple of favourite films, grab some popcorn and put your feet up with the kids.

We hope you enjoyed some of our tips!

Lastly, don’t forget that during school holidays there may be lots going on in your local area.  We recommend, checking the website of your local council, tourist information centre, libraries and community centres to see what’s going on.
